Patrick Sorgeloos, distinguished professor at Tianjin University of Science and Technology, holds the esteemed positions of academician of the Royal Academy of Overseas Sciences (Belgium) and emeritus professor at Ghent University. He has been awarded the gold medal of the Royal Flemish Academy of Sciences and Art (Belgium) in 2025 and the Chinese Government Friendship Award in 2014. As a world-renowned expert in aquaculture (ranking top 10) he has published 14 monographs and over 400 papers (H-index 94), supervised more than 270 postgraduate and doctoral students, led research projects funded by FAO, UNDP, European Commission, and Belgian government, and served as a consultant for international organizations and institutions including FAO, World Bank, and US National Science Foundation, thereby making outstanding contributions to promoting the sustainable development of aquaculture.

Artemia biodiversity and biology; Sustainable exploitation and utilization of Artemia resources; Healthy hatchery production of aquatic animals, Artemia nutrition and food development.
