Tianjin University of Science and Technology and Belgian company INVE Technology Held a Signing and Inauguration Ceremony for the “Joint Laboratory for Innovative Applications of Artemia”

On March 6, the signing and unveiling ceremony for the “Joint Laboratory for Innovative Applications of Artemia,” established jointly by Tianjin University of Science and Technology and the Belgian company INVE Technology, was held at our university’s Binhai Campus. Wang Min, Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President of Tianjin University of Science and Technology, attended the event and delivered a speech. Patrick Waty, CEO of INVE, Belgium, and his delegation attended the meeting. Also present were officials from the university’s Office of Science and Technology, Office of International Exchange, and College of Marine and Environment Sciences, as well as Professor Patrick Sorgeloos and the head of the Asian Regional Daphnia Reference Center.

In her remarks, Wang Min noted that the establishment of the joint laboratory will deeply integrate our university’s research strengths in brine biotechnology with TNVE Company’s industrial resources and technological advantages in the global aquaculture nutrition and health sector, creating synergies to jointly build an innovation chain spanning “basic research—technology development—industrial application.” The Joint Laboratory will provide localized R&D support, technical services, and end-to-end solutions for TNVE Group’s China operations, driving high-quality and efficient development in related industries; it will also advance the upgrading of our university’s scientific research and innovation system and the efficiency of technology transfer, further enhancing the university’s industry influence and core competitiveness both domestically and internationally.

Patrick Waty stated that Tianjin INVE Aquaculture Co., Ltd. has maintained close cooperation with Tianjin University of Science and Technology over the years and expressed sincere gratitude for the university’s support in areas such as product technology R&D, quality control system development, and the targeted recruitment of core talent. With the establishment of a joint laboratory serving as a new bond of cooperation, both parties look forward to engaging in deeper collaborative innovation in the future across areas such as cutting-edge technology R&D, joint training of multidisciplinary talent, the commercialization of research outcomes, and international exchange and collaboration. They aim to achieve mutual resource sharing and complementary strengths, jointly building a new framework for mutually beneficial and win-win industrial integration and development.

At the meeting, the head of the Asian Regional Daphnia Reference Center provided a detailed overview of the Center’s recent development progress and key research achievements, as well as the foundation and initial results of its collaboration with INVE Company. Representatives from both sides signed the agreement and unveiled the laboratory plaque, and attendees engaged in in-depth discussions regarding the collaboration and the laboratory’s construction.

The establishment of the university-industry joint laboratory will further open channels for international collaboration among industry, academia, and research, injecting new momentum into the university’s efforts to enhance its international service capabilities. Moving forward, the university will continue to deepen the integration of industry, academia, research, and application; promote university-industry partnerships and international exchanges; and accelerate the development of a high-level, multidisciplinary, and distinctive research university.
