Based on Tianjin, integrating intothe BinhaiDistrict,orientingto the entire country, and serving the national strategies of “Maritime Power” and “Land-Sea Integration”, the School of Ocean and Environment offers a suite of master's programs. These programs are designed to cultivate talents with regional advantages and unique expertise in marine resource utilization and environmental protection, serving both our country and the Bohai Rim region.

Objectives

Disciplines

Marine Science (070700, Tianjin’s key discipline, Tianjin’s first-class discipline)

This discipline encompasses three key areas: marine biology, physical oceanography, and marine chemistry. It fosters research in the processes and mechanisms of the marine ecological environment, numerical forecasting and risk assessment of marine disasters, and the comprehensive utilization of brine resources. Significant achievements have been made in areas such as phytoplankton carbon sinks, ecological environment assessment and pollution control in the Bohai Bay, the theoretical development of phase equilibria in brine systems, and the development and utilization of Artemia resources.

Environmental Science and Engineering (083000, Tianjin’s key discipline)

This discipline includes environmental science and environmental engineering. It focuses on marine environmental protection, sustainable resource utilization, and pollution control, with unique strengths and advantages in offshore environmental management, marine ecological protection, and treatment of light chemical wastewater, as well as integrated technologies for decentralized domestic wastewater treatment.

Resources and Environment (085700)

This discipline includes environmental engineering and the exploitation and utilization of marine resources. It emphasizes marine resources and environmental protection, specializing in ecological and environmental restoration research in the coastal waters of Bohai Bay, pollutant control and resource utilization, promotion and application of rural domestic sewage treatment, and the utilization and pollution prevention of water and light chemical industry resources.
