College of Marine and Environmental Sciences Holds Symposium for Young Faculty Members

To thoroughly study, promote, and implement the spirit of the university’s Fourth Party Congress and advance the high-quality, connotative development under the university’s Vanguard Plan, the College of Marine and Environmental Sciences convened a symposium for young faculty members on March 11 at the Binhai Mid-Campus. Attendees included the college’s leadership team, directors of departments, and representatives of young faculty members.

The college’s Party and administrative leaders briefed attendees on the outcomes of the university’s Fourth Party Congress. Dean Deng Tianlong outlined the college’s key priorities for 2025 and emphasized four specific requirements:

  1. Strategic Planning: Departments must align with the college’s overall development to set clear tasks and goals, actively advancing the "Vanguard Plan" through unified efforts and seizing opportunities.

  2. Faculty Support: The college will enhance tailored services for faculty, particularly in career planning for young teachers, by systematically designing development pathways and creating platforms for their growth.

  3. Performance Incentives: The college will refine performance evaluation mechanisms, optimize resource allocation, and encourage faculty to take on major responsibilities and pivotal roles.

  4. Leadership Accountability: Department directors must demonstrate responsibility, motivate faculty, and foster collaboration to ensure effective implementation of initiatives.

Party Secretary Xu Tao highlighted three priorities:

  1. Human-Centered Management: Administrative staff should improve service quality through innovative and meticulous approaches, gaining expertise through practice.

  2. Landmark Achievements: Focus on breakthroughs in discipline development, scientific innovation, and teaching quality to deliver visible results.

  3. Cultivating Passionate Educators: Faculty must uphold the mission of fostering talent, embrace dedication, and contribute to building a high-level research-oriented university.

The meeting also included discussions on industry-academia collaboration, undergraduate program evaluations, and talent recruitment. Newly hired faculty shared their experiences and pledged to follow the Party Congress’s guidance, striving to contribute to the university’s vision.
