College of Marine and Environmental Sciences held a Teachers' Day symposium on September 9. The event aimed to celebrate the 41st Teachers' Day, implement the spirit of the university’s Fourth Party Congress, further strengthen professional ethics and conduct among faculty, and foster a culture of respect for teachers and education. Attendees included college leaders, heads of departments and offices, members of outstanding teaching teams, award-winning teachers, and newly recruited faculty. The symposium was presided over by Chen Guirong, Vice Dean of the college.

Professor Deng Tianlong, Dean of the college, fully acknowledged the faculty's outstanding contributions to disciplinary development, teaching, research, and talent cultivation. On behalf of the college, he extended sincere holiday greetings and heartfelt gratitude to all staff for their dedicated efforts and quiet perseverance. Dean Deng outlined key college initiatives and set forth requirements for building a high-quality teaching faculty. He emphasized three priority areas: first, strengthening the development of a high-quality faculty through strategic resource integration; second, enhancing the talent pipeline for outstanding young teachers with forward-looking planning; and third, promoting sustained mentorship among faculty to ensure continuous high-quality development.
Xu Tao, Secretary of the college's Party Committee, stressed the importance of implementing the spirit of the university’s Fourth Party Congress and its subsequent expanded plenary session. He called for continued focus on the college’s core missions, aligning with the goals of the "Vanguard Program," and refining teaching and research metrics. He urged all faculty to maintain a united and determined spirit, working in harmony to achieve new breakthroughs in the college’s high-quality, connotative development.
During the symposium, faculty representatives provided suggestions on disciplinary planning, program development, teaching and education, scientific research, and talent cultivation. Senior professors shared their career experiences, encouraging young faculty to deepen their expertise, stay true to their original aspirations, and pursue innovation with perseverance. Young faculty members expressed their commitment to integrating personal growth into the broader national mission of strengthening education, vowing to learn from their predecessors’ dedication and achieve new successes in their respective roles.
