Note: The global list of the top 2% of scientists is determined by analyzing citation data from the Scopus database. Selection is based on six comprehensive metrics, including total citations, H-index, and HM factor, assessing both "career impact" and "annual impact," from nearly 7 million scientists to identify the top 2% globally across 22 fields and 174 subfields. The 2024 edition has incorporated data on retracted papers (sourced from the Retraction Watch database) as well as the citation/self-citation status of these retracted papers. Career data has been updated to the end of 2023. This version is based on the Scopus database as of August 1, 2024, and includes updates to citation data up to the end of 2023.
