[International Exchange] Delegation from Tashkent Institute of Chemical Technology, Uzbekistan, Visits College of Marine and Environmental Sciences for Collaboration
A delegation led by Prof. Murodjon Samadiy, Deputy Director of the Science and Technology Office at Tashkent Institute of Chemical Technology (TICT) and faculty member of the Karshi Engineering and Economics Institute, Uzbekistan, visited Tianjin University of Science and Technology (TUST) to advance international scientific collaboration.
Prof. Samadiy presented on Uzbekistan’s current utilization and development of solid mineral resources and geothermal water resources. In response, Prof. Deng Tianlong, Dean of TUST’s College of Marine and Environmental Science, and Dr. Zhao Kaiyu, a young faculty member, shared insights on green and efficient exploitation of liquid lithium resources and cutting-edge separation technologies for rare dispersed elements (rubidium, cesium, strontium). They showcased the team’s self-developed skid-mounted Jinke Intelligent Continuous Moving Bed. Joint pilot trials for lithium extraction from seawater and brine were conducted, strengthening Sino-Uzbek technical cooperation.
Prof. Samadiy delivered a high-quality academic lecture titled “Integrated Processing of Industrial Waste, Mineral, and Geothermal Waters in Uzbekistan” at Lecture Hall 506, Building 9, Binhai Midtown Campus. He highlighted Uzbekistan’s distribution, reserves, and exploitation of inorganic mineral resources and proposed collaborative prospects leveraging the complementary strengths of both nations. Nearly 100 faculty and students from the Colleges of Marine and Environmental Science and Chemical Engineering and Materials Science attended the event.
College of Marine and Environmental Sciences has actively aligned with China’s “Marine Power” strategy and the Belt and Road Initiative, advancing the university’s “Vanguard Plan” and “International Communication” initiatives. Through reciprocal visits and signed agreements with institutions such as Ehime University (Japan), University of Terengganu Malaysia (UMT), Tashkent Institute of Chemical Technology, and the Institute of General and Inorganic Chemistry, Uzbekistan, the college has established the Tianjin “Belt and Road” Joint Laboratory. These efforts lay a robust foundation for deepening scientific collaboration, talent cultivation, and technological exchange, achieving phased milestones in both “bringing in” and “going global” strategies.
