In order to thoroughly implement the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China and the spirit of the Central Conference on Talent Work, carry out the actions of revitalizing the city through science and education and strengthening the city through talents, adhere to the strategy of "strengthening the university through talents", and further enhance the school's talent introduction efforts and the level of faculty construction, our university successfully hosted the main forum of the 2023 Haihe Forum for International Young Scholars on December 9th.

The opening ceremony of the 2023 Haihe Forum for International Young Scholars was held in the lecture hall on the seventh floor of Yanquan Building, West Campus of Binhai Campus of our university. Zheng Bayin, member of the Party Leadership Group and Deputy Director of the Tianjin Human Resources and Social Security Bureau, and Song Zhe, Member of the Standing Committee of the Binhai New Area District Committee and Minister of the Organization Department, were invited to attend. Over a hundred young scholars from more than a dozen countries and regions such as the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, and Japan participated online. Lu Fuping, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and President of Tianjin University of Science & Technology, attended and delivered a speech. Gao Faming, Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President of the university, attended the ceremony and introduced the university's talent policies. The opening ceremony was presided over by Wang Min, Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President of the university. The main leaders of each college, teacher representatives, talent service staff, and heads of relevant functional departments of the university also attended the opening ceremony

In his speech, Lu Fuping, on behalf of the university, expressed sincere welcome to all talents and guests participating in the forum. He pointed out that holding the Haihe Forum for International Young Scholars is an important measure for the university to thoroughly implement the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China and the spirit of the Central Conference on Talent Work. Over the years, the university has insisted on regarding talents as the foundation for strengthening the university, the key to development, and the basis for competition. It has deeply promoted the strategy of "strengthening the university through talents" and successively implemented the "Haihe Scholar Distinguished Professor System" and the "Tianjin University of Science & Technology Haihe Talent Project." The university has made great efforts to help various talents solve housing, children's education, and other concerns, forming a good atmosphere of cherishing, loving, respecting, and utilizing talents. Currently, the university is gathering talents around its "14th Five-Year Plan" development plan and long-term goals for the year 2035, striving to make progress with vigor and determination. In the next step, the university will further deepen the reform of the personnel system, continuously strengthen the precision of talent services, optimize the environment for talent development, create better conditions and provide greater support for talents, especially allowing young talents to take on major responsibilities and play leading roles, enabling them to create first-class achievements and realize extraordinary dreams during the prime of their lives. At the same time, he sincerely hopes that through this forum, young scholars will understand and join Tianjin University of Science & Technology, take root in the beautiful city of Tianjin, embark on the journey of the times together, write a new chapter of entrepreneurship, contribute their wisdom and efforts to promoting the high-quality development of the university and Tianjin, and forge ahead towards realizing the Chinese Dream of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.

Zheng Bayin, on behalf of the Tianjin Human Resources and Social Security Bureau, expressed warm congratulations on the holding of the forum and sincere welcome to the young scholars from home and abroad participating in the forum. He introduced the development environment and talent policies of Tianjin using six phrases: "Tianjin has history, Tianjin has beauty, Tianjin has warmth, Tianjin has inclusivity, Tianjin has friends, and Tianjin has innovation." Finally, he sincerely invited young talents from all walks of life to come to Tianjin to develop, showcase their abilities, and achieve great things.

Song Zhe, on behalf of the District Party Committee and District Government of the New Area, expressed a warm welcome to all experts, scholars, and young talents. In his speech, he highlighted the extremely advantageous development strategies and industrial systems of Bincheng, its competitive talent policies, and its excellent environment that is suitable for living, working, traveling, and leisure. Finally, he sincerely invited overseas young scholars to visit the beautiful Bincheng, experience its charm, and embark on their innovative dreams.

Gao Faming briefly introduced the university's development history, educational characteristics, research platforms, research and teaching achievements, faculty, and development environment. He emphasized the introduction of relevant policies regarding the "Tianjin University of Science & Technology Haihe Talent Project," as well as the cultivation of postdoctoral researchers and young talents.

Professor Si Chuanling, a candidate for our university's national key talent project and the deputy director of the Science and Technology Department, introduced the basic situation of the university's main research platforms. Professor Xie Xixian, a representative of the national key talent project candidates, and Professor Tang Yao, a representative of Tianjin's key talent project candidates, respectively shared their growth journeys and personal experiences of choosing Tianjin University of Science & Technology and establishing their careers in Tianjin, along with their sincere reflections.

On the afternoon of the 9th, the opening ceremony of the Haihe Forum for International Young Scholars was broadcast live in a special European session.

With the theme of "Gathering at Tianjin University of Science & Technology, Embarking on a New Journey," this forum widely promoted the "Tianjin University of Science & Technology Haihe Talent Project" and the university's related talent policies through well-known industry media. Since the forum announcement was released at the beginning of the year, nearly 300 outstanding young talents have registered. The main forum adopted a combination of online and offline participation, with over 2,200 online attendees.

Before the end of January 2024, various schools within our university will successively organize sub-forums in different academic fields. These sub-forums will take the form of invited special reports and academic discussions by outstanding young scholars, focusing on international academic frontier issues and hot research areas. They will conduct further discussions with teachers and students from various schools, deepening mutual understanding and laying a solid foundation for exchanges and cooperation between young scholars at home and abroad and the university's faculty and students.
