The scientific research team of the School of Ocean and Environment of our school has made important progress in the field of environmental

Recently, Professor Song Donghui's team from the School of Oceanography and Environment of our university has made important progress in the field of environmental hormone biodegradation, and the Tianjin Natural Science Foundation Key Project has funded the research.

Nonylphenol is widely used as an important chemical raw material, but as a typical environmental hormone pollutant, it also interferes with the immune system, antioxidant system and reproductive system of organisms, directly or indirectly posing a serious threat to human health. Therefore, it is necessary to explore its biodegradation pathway and reveal its degradation mechanism. The thesis results of "Yu Feng, Ao Wang, Wenxian Fu, Donghui Song. Growth performance, antioxidant response, biodegradation and transcriptome analysis of Chlorella pyrenoidosa after nonylphenol exposure", which is the first author of the thesis by Feng Yu, Ao Wang, Wenxian Fu, Donghui Song. This paper studied the effects of high concentration of nonylphenol on photosynthetic efficiency and oxidative stress of tolerant Chlorella strains, analyzed the degradation efficiency and metabolites of nonylphenol, and preliminarily revealed the biometabolic pathways of nonylphenol degradation by microalgae cells. At the same time, the changes of many related genes and molecular metabolic pathways during nonylphenol degradation were described at the mRNA molecular level. The research results provide a new research idea for the biodegradation of environmental hormone pollutants, and provide an important basis for the establishment of efficient degradation of environmental pollutants engineering microalgae resources. The research results were published online in the internationally renowned journal "Science of the Total Environment".

Professor Song Donghui's team and his collaborators have been engaged in the research on the resource utilization of marine bioactive substances for many years, and the scientific research results are rich. The young teachers of the team are also growing rapidly: Associate Professor Liu Hongyan, as a famous teacher of Tianjin University Course Ideological and Political Demonstration Course and the head of the National Natural Science Foundation Youth Fund, has published high-level research results in the internationally renowned journals InternationalJournalofHydrogenEnergy and Journal of Bioscience and Bioengineering in the field of engineering technology; Dr. Dong Chunming, as a young reserve talent in Tianjin universities and the head of the National Natural Science Foundation Youth Fund, has published high-level research results in the internationally renowned journals Structure and Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications in the field of biophysics.
