On April 20, “2024 Salt Lake & Salt Industry Development Summit Forum” was held successfully in Tianjin, hosted by the Chemical Thermodynamics and Thermal Analysis Committee of the Chinese Chemical Society and organized by Tianjin University of Science & Technology and Tianjin Polytechnic University.

Ltd. and more than 150 experts and scholars from colleges and universities, scientific research institutes and industrial enterprises from all over the country gathered together to discuss the development of salt lake and salt industry, and seek a new process of sea brine resources development. The forum was hosted by Jia Qijun, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the university, and Wang Min, Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President of the university, whoattended the forum and delivered a wonderful speech.

The “2024 Salt Lake & Salt Industry Development Summit Forum” addressed the major issues of how to integrate the development of strategic resources of salt lake and ecological protection under the goal of “carbon peaking and carbon neutrality”, and how to build a world-class salt lake industrial base, and focuses on the research topics of strategic minerals of salt lake and diversification of value of salt lake, comprehensive development and utilization of resources and high-value comprehensive utilization of salt lake. It focuses on the strategic minerals of salt lake and multiple salt lake values, comprehensive development and utilization of salt lake resources and high-value comprehensive utilization, and other research topics, demonstrating the latest research progress and achievements and communicating the development opportunities and challenges of the salt lake and salt industry related fields.

To further strengthen the deep integration of industry, academia & research, and to promote closer and more comprehensive cooperation between theuniversity and enterprises, our university signed comprehensive strategic cooperation agreements with eight salt lake and salt industry enterprises, including Qinghai Salt Lake Industry Co. Ltd., Sichuan Jiuda Penglai Salt Chemical Co., Ltd. and Sichuan Jinzhuo tube Chemical Technology Co., Ltd. The signing is a wonderful starting point for the cooperation between the university and enterprises, which provides a good opportunity and also a platform for both sides to conduct multi-level and multi-form cooperation, realizing the optimal allocation of resources and mutual benefit and win-win situation of both sides and helping enterprises to realize technological upgrading and industrial upgrading.

In the “production, learning, research and utilization” cooperation and communication session, Chief Engineer Pan Tong of Qinghai Geology and Mineral Resources Exploration and Development Bureau, Vice President Ma Lichun of Qinghai Salt Lake Industry Co., Prof. Cheng Huaigang of Shanxi University and Prof. Chen Xia of Tianjin University of Science and Technology made oral presentations addressing the past, present and future of salt resources in Qaidam Basin, opportunities and challenges of building a world-class salt lake industrial base, green and efficient separation and process intensification of salt lake resources, development of special salts and utilization of saline and geothermal water resources, extension and application of phase equilibria principle in the water-salt system in the salt lake and the process of salt chemical industry, research and practice of salt chemical industry in salt-containing waste water and waste solids of complex systems, as well as the research and practice of salt chemical technology in complex systems of saline wastewater and wastes and solids. All the speakers well communicated with the delegates.

The “2024 Salt Lake & Salt Industry Development Summit Forum” is a solid action to conduct the university's “Pioneer Program”, promoting the high-quality development of the university's marine chemical industry, salt lake and salt industry, and other related research fields, helping the research and application of advanced technologies, equipment & materials, facilitating the integration of industry and education, the integration of science and education, and the cross-disciplinary innovative development, as well as improving the international academic influence of China's salt lake and salt industry and facilitating the construction of world-class salt lake industry base.
