Key Laboratory of Marine Resource Chemistry and Food Technology, Ministry of Education (TUST), based in Tianjin University of Science and Technology, was approved by the Ministry of Education in 2009 and renamed in 2021. This laboratory in order to implement a series of national strategies such as “Maritime Power”, “One Belt, One Road”, “Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Coordinated Development” and “Bohai Economic Circle”, focuses on Tianjin Marine economy development “14th Five-Year plan” and the national economic and social development and the major scientific and technological issues on the national marine technology. The main research areas are Marine food, Marine chemical industry and Marine ecological environment protection, which faces the national strategic needs, especially the scientific and technological problems contained in the key technologies. The laboratory focuses on basic, critical and prospective research of Marine food, Marine chemical industry and Marine ecological environmental protection, which will promote the development on the Marine resource chemistry and food technology in China.

The platform has a number of large precision instruments and equipment with more than 0.5 million yuan, including Field emission Transmission Electron Microscope Talos G2 200X (FEI, USA, 9.975 million yuan, 2019), Isothermal Titration Calorimetry (TAM, USA, 3.2 million yuan, 2018), BT 2.15 Microcalorimeter (Setaram, France, 2.2 million yuan, 2018) and so on, with a total value of more than 68 million yuan.

Director

Deng Tianlong, Ph.D., Professor, leader of Innovation team of Ministry of Education. He is mainly engaged in teaching and scientific research on the comprehensive utilization of marine brine resources. Member of the Standing Committee of the International Society of Salt Lakes, Deputy Director of the Society of Salt Resources and Environment of the Geological Society of China, member of the Special Committee of Thermodynamics and Thermal Analysis of the Chinese Chemical Society, etc. He has presided over 12 scientific research projects such as national key research and development projects, National Natural Science Foundation key projects and provincial and ministerial major/key projects, published 10 monographs, authorized 3 international patents and 34 national invention patents. It has trained 4 postdocs and 20 doctoral students. He won the first prize and second prize of Tianjin Teaching Achievement, the second prize of Tianjin Natural Science and the second prize of scientific and technological progress achievement.
